Martin Gilbert is Chairman of Revolut, the global neobank and financial technology company. He co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management in 1983, growing it into one of the world's leading independent asset managers, and led the business until his retirement in September 2020, including a period as co-CEO following the 2017 merger with Standard Life.
He also spent over two decades as Chairman of FirstGroup and served on the Board of Sky PLC until its acquisition by Comcast. In 2015, Harvard Business Review ranked him 22nd among the world's top performing CEOs, and he has since been recognised with awards including Personality of the Year at the City AM Awards and Asset Management CEO of the Year at the Global Investor Awards.
Martin currently sits on the boards of Glencore and Liontrust Asset Management, and is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Imperial College Business School. He holds honorary degrees from the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University, and Heriot-Watt University.
